Virtualization
Virtualization, in computing, is a term that refers to the various techniques, methods or approaches of creating a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as a virtual hardware platform, operating system (OS), storage device, or network resources.
1. Magnified failures. In the physical world, a server hardware failure typically would mean one server failed and backup servers would step in to prevent downtime. In the virtual world, depending on the number of virtual machines residing on a physical box, a hardware failure could impact multiple virtual servers and the applications they host.
2. Obsolete skills. IT might not realize the skill sets it has in-house won't apply to a large virtualized production environment until they have it live. The skills needed to manage virtual environments should span all levels of support, including service desk operators who may be fielding calls regarding their virtual PCs. Companies will feel a bit of a talent shortage when moving toward more virtualized systems, and Coyle recommends starting the training now.
cause analysis. Virtual machines move -- that is the part of their appeal. But as Coyle pointed out, it is also a potential issue when managing problems. Server problems in the past could be limited to one box, but now the problem can move with the virtual machine and lull IT staff into a false sense of security.
3. No standardization. Tools and processes used to address the physical environment can't be directly applied to the virtual world, so many IT shops will have to think about standardizing how they address issues in the virtual environment.
"Mature tools and processes must be revamped," Coyle said.
4. May be habit forming. Once IT organizations start to use virtualization, they can't stop themselves, Coyle said. He offered tips to help curb the damage done from giving into a virtual addition.
Software for preventive maintenance
Types of software for preventive maintenance:
- Scan disk and files for virus
- Defrag hard disk volume
- Check disk for read errors
- Check file system for errors
Scan disk and files for virus
Software: Avira Anti-Virus
Function: it include real-time protection, detection and removal of viruses, trojans, worms, spyware, adware, keyloggers malicious tools and auto-dialers, as well as detection and removal of rootkits.
Defrag hard disk volume
Software: Auslogics disk defrag
Function: Defragmenting your PC hard disk for RAM can boost up the performance of your computer and it will goes smoothly.
Check disks for read error
Software: CDCheck 3
Function: CDCheck is the most well known scanner in Windows platform which it can easily scan for an error.
Check file system for errors
Software: Advanced SystemCare
Functions : Clear the Register which diagnose system and maintain the windows.

--> The act of a regularly scheduled check of the computer hardware or software to help ensure it continues to operate properly. Below is a list of some preventive maintenance steps you can take with your computer or computer hardware.
--> The care/servicing by personnel for the purpose of maintaining equipment & facilities which providing systematic inspection, detection and correction of incipient failures either they occur or before it was develop
How?
- Cleaning your computer hardware.
- Downloading the latest drivers for your hardware.
- Downloading the latest updates for your computer software.
- Verifying you have the latest anti-virus protection updates on your computer.
- Running disk software utilities such as Defrag and ScanDisk on your hard drive.
- Deleting unused programs or other files on your computer.
- If you don’t turn off your computer it may be good to reboot your computer every few months, unless the computer is a critical computer such as a computer server.
PC Maintenance Tools
Spare Part Tube
Function : To place all spare parts/screw.Three Prongs Holder
Function : Good for holding up small parts, for positioning and painting and getting into hard-to-reach spots.Needle Nose Pliers
Functions : The main functions of needle is to cut thin wires and to grip small object.Adjustable Wrench/Spanner
Functions : To loosen or tighten or gripping hexagonal nuts.
Wire Stripper
Functions : For cutting or stripping away the plastic coating on Romex electrical wires, leaving the wire core intact and undamaged. The end portions of wires need to be stripped during electrical work so that those bare ends can contact with terminals or other wires.
Solder Reel/Iron
Functions : To be molten so that current can pass through it.
Soldering Iron
Functions : It’s a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal (solder) into the joint, the filler metal having a lower melting point than the work piece. Reverse Action Tweezers
Functions : For holding small items to be glued into small places.
IC inserter
Functions : To insert chip into a circuit board/motherboard.
IC Extractor/Puller
Functions : To remove/extracting a microchip from a motherboard and it also can be used to remove memory chip.
1/4 Nut Driver and 3/16 Nut Drive
Function : A nut driver is a hand-held tool used in a variety of household and commercial applications. It is used to secure and undo a nut, which is a hexagonal fastener used in conjunction with a bolt.
Flat (-) Screwdriver: 1/4 Flat Screwdriver ,1/8 Flat Screwdriver and 3/16 Flat Screwdriver
Function : It’s a tool for driving screws or bolts with special slots, and sometimes for rotating other machine elements with the mating drive system. A typical hand screwdriver comprises an approximately cylindrical handle of a size and shape to be held by a human hand, and an axial shaft fixed to the handle, the tip of which is shaped to fit a particular type of screw.
Philips (+) Screwdriver: 0 Philips Screwdriver, 1 Philips Screwdriver, 2 Philips Screwdrive

Who is he?
Gordon Moore is an American co-founder and Chairman
Emeritus of Intel Corporation and the author of Moore's Law that published in
an article April 19, 1965 in Electronics Magazine. Moore was born on January 3,
1929 in San Francisco. He received a
B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of California,
Berkeley in 1950 and a PhD in Chemistry and minor in physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1954.
He is a director of Gilead
Sciences Inc., a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and a Fellow of
the Royal Society of Engineers. Moore also serves on the board of trustees of
the California Institute of Technology. He received the National Medal of
Technology in 1990 and the Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian
honor, from George W. Bush in 2002.
What have he done?
Gordon Moore is the Co-Founded Intel and he suggests that
integrated circuits would double in complexity every 18 months. This later
becomes known as “Moore’s Law”, and is
applied to microprocessor speed. “Moore's
Law," in which he predicted that the number of transistors the industry would be able to place on a computer microchip would double every year.
In 1995, he updated his prediction to once every two years.
While originally intended as a rule of thumb in 1965, it has become the guiding
principle for the industry to deliver more powerful semiconductor chips at proportionate decreases in cost.
